The US Military initially used this pouch to hold a single 40mm grenade round securely with a strap and snap closure; the bottom of this pouch has a slit that allows water to drain, preventing corrosion of the grenade. The 40mm pouch has a strap and snap on the back that is MOLLE/PALS compatible; you can attach it onto any belt, vest, carrier, or other gear that uses MOLLE/PALS for quick access.
