History of the M-65 Parka
Introduced to the US Army in the early '50s, the fishtail parka was used by American soldiers to cope with the freezing conditions during the Korean War. The M51 fishtail parka was replaced by its warmer and lighter version- the M-65 fishtail parka. In the '60s, the M-65 fishtail parka became a symbol of the mod subculture. Nowadays, although it has been replaced in the US military by the Extended Cold Weather Clothing System (ECWCS), the fishtail parka remains one of the most popular and recognizable military parka models.
