ECWCS Gen III Level 2 Thermal Grid Fleece Shirt—Tan 499

I bought 2 of these for no real reason. I ended up using them during a week long, outdoor pistol course in NH. Helped keep me warm.

At 80, I'm not in my old army shape so some of my comments are because of my "dad bod." 5'11"- 203 lbs-45" chest and 42" waist. This should explain why the shirt is a bit "snug" around the waist. It works. But if you have anything at 40" or less, you'll be good to go. Generally, the shirt is fairly well made considering the price. Some loose threads here and there, but no big deal. The fabric is a bit thin but it kept me quite comfortable wearing only that as a top inside a 68 degree home. Putting a wind breaker or rain jacket on over it, and it was quite comfortable even in high 30's to mid 40's even in wind and blowing rain. So something seems working for it even though thin fabric. I love the zip feature for easy on and the abiliity to turn it into a turtle neck even without the beard protector tab. I tried the thumb holes and they work but I don't usually use them so location and sizing mentioned by others is not an issue to me. I take a 35" sleeve and these sleves are easily long enough for me. However, the body could be about 1" longer. It will stay tucked in your pants, but not by much. That said, it does seem to have a longer back portion than front. Because the label suggested "dry cleaning" (yeah, on military underwear? No way. McGuire did suggest washing in cold water and not drying in heat.) I machine washed on cold and dryed flat on a towel and all worked well. So this is something I would buy again, especially when it is on sale.

I have worn these fleece tops and I have found them to be well made and very warm in temperatures at freezing or slightly cooler. Not warm enough for temperatures below 25 degrees.
